I thought I would post about my favorite concealer. I posted about concealers before but since that time have found a new favorite: Chanel’s Correcteur Perfection.
My previous favorite was Mac’s Select Moisturecover. Of all the concealers I’ve tried, Select Moisturecover and Correcteur Perfection seem to have the best coverage, go on the smoothest without being either too sticky nor too fluidy. Both of them also have excellent lasting properties, meaning they stay on for a long time and can withstand even things like fitness activities and intense sweating.
I find that Correcteur Perfection edges out Select Moisturecover because it seems to be a little bit smoother, more long-lasting, and doesn’t tend to get cakey under the eyes which can cause fine lines.
One trick to discovering the full power of Correcteur Perfection was to find the right shade. Many makeup artists I’ve seen tend to match the concealer with my skin color but actually, for conealer, because of the fact that I tend to have purple around my eyes, a strong pinkish concealer actually corrects much better and, when applied, actually looks more neutral. Shades which match my actual skin tone tend to look a little ashen. For me, the best shade of Correcteur Perfection is 31 Beige Rose even though for foundation in Chanel’s lines I’m usually a 30.
Around the eyes isn’t the only place that one has to conceal. Sometimes one may have a mark or something on one’s skin. I get marks all the time from riding bicycles and working out. My favorite concealer for body marks is Mac’s Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer which is much more pasty than the above products. In fact, it makes a great concealer for around the eyes and other areas of the face. Because it is thicker it will conceal very well which might be great for photography. But it tends to be a little too heavy for daily use especially for a natural look.
