A hypothesis

There was an article in the news very recently about a potential new treatment for Alzheimher’s that involves a type of ultrasound called “focused therapeutic ultrasound”. The ultrasound is aimed at the brain and it causes the blood-brain barrier to temporarily become permeable and stimulates a type of waste-removal cell called microglial cells to activate, allowing them to clear out the plaques.

This made me think. Because lately I’ve been shaking my hair before coming out of the shower, after having washed it. It drastically cuts down the amount of time necessary for it to air dry, and I basically always air dry my hair. Maybe its a good thing to shake one’s hair like a wet dog?

I know that in general its kind of healthy for our bodies to shake and move. It can be therapeutic for many other things. So it kind of makes sense in a way that shaking one’s head like a dog might actually be of benefit. By shaking it it allows things to move around. If there are any blockages or anything, regular shaking of the head might be enough to kind of keep things flowing. It might not be exactly the same as the ultrasound, but maybe shaking one’s head on a regular basis can have a similar effect?

I have no proof of course but now I feel kind of determined to see. I will just continue to shake my head after washing it and perhaps in 20 or 30 years I might have something to report back…

My only recommendation is to not do this if anyone has any problems. If someone becomes dizzy, or lightheaded, or experiences anything else that is not good then it seems like it would be better not to. Shaking it too fast can make me feel lightheaded. There’s a certain frequency of shaking back-and-forth that seems just right.

My guide is just that, as long as it doesn’t feel bad, then its probably ok, because our bodies have this amazing feedback system which seems to be almost always accurate. Maybe shaking one’s head back-and-forth is like giving our brain a massage. Perhaps it gives it a chance to help move out toxins and increase the flow of nutrients and other beneficial things.
