A new study has come out that associates the health sweetener erythritol with increased risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events – think heart attacks and strokes.
I haven’t seen it in pure form but it is definitely used in significant quantities combined with other sweeteners like Monk Fruit.

I used Monk Fruit sweetener for a while and opted for one that didn’t have erythritol. However I noticed it caused gastric upset and stopped using it.
My current preferred sweetener is pure, powderized stevia with no other ingredients.
