What a difference. I’m watching this episode of a jdrama and the main plot is about the handmade tofu being served at a reputable inn.
In the above pictured scene some of the main characters are actually in the shop where they have been making the same tofu for 200 years (and the inn that serves it has been around for a similarly long time).
I can’t imagine there ever being a plot in anything produced in the United States which is this holisitic. I bet the beef council would probably sue the network that aired such a show if it were even broadcast. America. Beer. Football. Beef. Only faggots eat tofu. Go! Go! Go!
Beyond that, I can’t imagine there ever being the care, attention, and devotion to things for there ever to evolve this kind of craft and appreciation which relates to wholeness of being, health, and quality of life.
I’m in a major process of reflecting right now on who I am and what I really stand for. I would like to believe that I stand for love and attention to things, concern for even little things, and devotion to things. But the beer-guzzling, beef-eating masses don’t seem to want people like me around and it makes me think about the future.
