Humans fighting nature

There is an article that was recently published in which a species of amaranth plant is being called “a beast of a weed”. This plant is edible and the seeds and the greens can be eaten and were by native Americans.

But now its considered a horrible weed which they are fighting using chemicals which is just sick. Amaranth is a noble plant and is highly nutritious and well-adapted to many environments. Its heartbreaking to see it treated this way.

It’s a beast of a weed, creeping north into the Midwest from cotton country.

Palmer amaranth can shoot up as high as 7 feet, and just one plant can produce up to a million seeds.
