Chanel have just come out (April 2014) with a brand new foundation called Perfection Lumière Velvet.
This foundation reminds me of some other super-silky products I’ve used from Tarte (I think one was a BB cream). It is really silky to apply, very slick. It is much less like a fluid or cream that a liquid foundation would normally be but more like a hyper-emollient, ultra-thin layer that easily glides on the skin.
Its coverage is light. This is a foundation I would wear when I want light coverage. However, if one wants more coverage, it would take a lot to build this product up to get really good coverage.
Since I tend to usually want good coverage in at least a few areas of my skin, my preference tends to be to use less of a medium- or high-coverage foundation rather than a lot of a light-coverage one.
My favorite foundations are still Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere and their Lift Lumiere. If I had to take one, and only one on a trip it would almost be a tossup between the two, although I’d probably opt for Lift Lumiere because of the excellent coverage and the fact that I can always use as little of it as I need. Its also nice that it has a rich, serum-like formulation which means, if I’m short on time, I don’t have to worry about applying serum beforehand.
