I’m sure everyone has long known about scented candles and how nice they can be for creating ambiance. Over the years I have used a lot of these types of candles but there was always one thing that I didn’t like: When you have to put out candles they emit a noxious-smelling smoke that kind of nullifies whatever pleasant ambient aroma the candle had.
It turns out that there is now a popular type of candle which has all the benefits of great ambiance without the drawback of the noxious gas emissions when it is put out: Soy candles.
I only recently started using soy candles and am now really hooked on them. They are more expensive than regular wax candles but so much more worth it.
A really cool candle company I found is called Sierra Essentials. I especially love the one with the scent called “Vacation”. Also the travel tin ones are really nice if you are on the road.
Also on reading their site I found out that its important to keep the wick trimmed to a half inch and to try not to burn them for over two hours at a time.
Even though I really like nice incense I am starting to like candles even more. I like the delicate aroma and the nice glow of the flame feels healing.
UPDATE: One concern I’ve become aware of is that the soy used to make the candle wax is non-GMO. As far as I know Sierra Essentials – heaven bless them – is the only maker of soy candles which states that the soy used for their candles is indeed non-GMO.
