Dried shitake snack

I don’t know why this didn’t occur to me sooner. I often get shitake mushrooms. I keep them in the refrigerator inside brown paper bags so that they don’t get all yucky. They dry out in there. The longer they are left the drier they become.

Sometimes a bag kind of ends up getting orphaned in there and lately, instead of just letting them dry to the point of being really hard, I decided to put them in a plastic container stored at room temperature. They were already well-dried, but not too well-dried.

Today for the first time I opened the container and ate a handful of them just as a snack. They are amazing. They are a perfectly balanced-tasting, chewy food that requires no seasoning.
