The Moraceae family

One of the natural food stores near me is now carrying bulk dried organic jackfruit. It is now my favorite dried fruit (except maybe for raisins which are almost a daily staple [EDIT: ok and perhaps also for dried mango, unsweetened banana chips, and dried blueberries]). Unlike many other dried fruits, eating a lot of dried jackfruit does not seem to cause any digestive disturbances. It is more gentle than other dried fruits.

It turns out that jackfruit is in the same family as figs and mulberries, as well as the famous rubber-tree and of course the popular decorative Ficus benjamina tree (of which I was never able to grow one without having it lose most of its leaves :/ ).

Jackfruit. Love it!
