Hair Care Products: Summer 2017 Edition

Here is a list of my current mainstay haircare products:

Redken Curvaceous Low Foam Moisturizing Cleanser

This is a great hair cleanser. It leaves the hair highly conditioned. To use it I dispense the product into my palm then disperse into both palms and work it in the hair starting with the roots. There’s an art to applying low foam cleansers to hair. Try to apply the full amount evenly between all ends of the hair, starting with the back and working towards the front. Save a small amount of product to work into the crown of the head. Then start working the hair in sections with the fingers. Even though it is low foam it should eventually disperse throughout the entire hair.

Acure Ultra Hydrating Conditioner

This is still my favorite and only conditioner. I often condition with it then use a small amount as leave-in. If my hair already feels well-conditioned I will skip the leave-in step although I usually use at least a very small amount on the ends.

Redken Curvaceous Curl Refiner

I love Redken’s Curl Refiner! It is now my main styling product. It helps form curls yet does not leave the hair stiff. It is very natural and soft. I apply it well throughout my hair when it is wet.

Redken Curvaceous Full Swirl Cream Serum

After applying Curl Refiner througout my wet hair, I then scrunch in some Full Swirl starting with the ends. It’s hard to describe this product but I think it helps curls stay formed.

AG Haircare Bigwigg Root Volumizer

The above styling products often work well enough that I don’t need any more styling products, but when my hair needs extra lift AG’s Bigwigg is my favorite product. Unlike many other products it doesn’t leave the hair crunchy or hard. It does not gunk up the hair but just gives it that added bit of stiffness for it to have lift. After applying it I work it in a little bit with my fingertips, then I clip my hair up and allow it to dry. This foam does actually take a while to air dry.
