My Favorite Haircare Products – Spring 2018

The process of caring for my hair has changed a lot over past months. I’ve shifted to a much more natural approach with the primary emphasis upon keeping my hair well-conditioned but without heavy products which weigh down the hair.

Contrary to prior beliefs about haircare products – especially for curly hair – which have been propagated by different sites and even some brands – many silicon-based compounds are in fact ideally suited for this purpose. Their moisturizing properties are superior to pretty much everything else.

One other thing I will mention that gets ranked at the top of my favorite haircare products: Nothing. Yes, nothing. Simply doing nothing to hair is good for it, especially if your hair is experiencing issues with thinning or fragility. Leave it alone and let your body naturally take care of your hair with its natural oils. Let your hair achieve its natural, organic balance. Find ways to work with your hair and your body’s natural, organic balance, not against it. This is my highest piece of advice.

Below are my favorite top products. Among the manufacturers my new favorite top company is Sexy Hair. They are actually part of a larger German company that is focused on sustainability.

Use this after cleansing hair. Is also good to spray into palms and then scrunch into dry ends. I like to use this with:

Repeair, detaingle, and nourish hair but is extremely lightweight and won’t weight hair down. I like to spray into moist palms then scrunch through areas that need care.

Silicon-based conditioning spray that is lightweight. Can be used consecutive days without buildup. Great for keeping hair moisturized and frizz under control.

L’anza Healing Style Powder Up Texturizer

If you want to add volume to your hair or have thinning hair this is a great product. It gives hair a thicker texture and allows for better styling. Shake the powder onto the roots at the crown of the head and use fingers to gently work into hair. While other root volumizing products may melt down if you are working out and sweaty, this won’t.  Check out their website because they make a lot of other extremely cool products.  Another similar product is Sexy Hair’s Powder Play.
