One of my secret ingredients

Every now and then I make a trip to the herb shops in Chinatown to look for a good deal on a 1/4 or 1/2 pound of cut American ginseng root.

After a workout I eat this much which is about a tablespoon full.

It is best to use American ginseng at the end of a workout when your angi level is very high, before eating. Wait a while after ingesting it before you do eat to allow it to work.

There is a skill in using this herb. I highly recommend to be cautious with using it and only use it if you are in good communication with your body’s immune system. Part of how this powerful adaptogenic herb works is by lowering immunity. Therefore I like to usually take zinc later.

If it is good quality cut American ginseng the pieces should be chewable and not too dried out (i.e. from sitting on the shelf too long). The root has a pleasant, sweet taste.
