Got my first tub of protein powder today

I read a long time ago that branched-chain amino acids were found to extend lifespan. Then, a week ago I as at the health-food store and there was a vendor display for a major company that makes a whole range of fitness-related supplements. I got the lowdown on what some of the different products were (there were so many from them that in the past it had kind of overwhelmed me) and in addition to some samples she gave me I also bought of few packets of different things.

The protein powder was really awesome. When I was reading the information on the packet I realized that one of the main benefits espoused for the product was its BCAA’s. Aha! I remembered about them but for some reason had never managed to actually get any. Now, I already just had some in the excellent protein powder I had gotten.

So today I decided to research and see what is available in protein powder mixes. It seems like I’m always low on energy and anything that can help give me a boost is a plus. Also, I’ve been active at the gym usually at least a couple times a week and I know it puts an extra load on my body.

After reading the ingredients of many different products on the shelf today, I decided on this particular product:

Nutribiotic Rice Protein, Plain 3 lb.

After walking out of the store with the 3 lb tub I couldn’t wait to try it. Luckily I had a plastic spoon on hand and so I opened it and tried some. Yum! I really like it! It tastes very – rice-y. Basically like rice. I guess that stands to reason.

I’m glad I got the non-flavored variety because it will be more fun to play with the flavoring on my own.

Also, I’ve found an excellent new use for my convenient push-and-spin whisk. It is the ultimate tool for making protein shakes.

I see that there are different types of protein powders available. I remember when I was a teenager and I had this one friend named Chuck who was kind of brawny into some type of training and he had this huge tub of some kind of powder that we used to eat gobs of. The powder he had also had a kind of neutral flavor to it, although it wasn’t rice. I’m not sure what it was. I just know we would eat a lot of it and it was probably good for us growing, active adolescents.

In addition to rice powder, there is pea powder and some are soy-based. There are also a lot of whey products which I decided not to get in order to stay vegan. My guess is that there are coming a lot of other really cool powders with amazing nutritional qualities such as Plukenetia volubilis which is in the one I sampled from the store last week (but unfortunately was a little too pricey for me at the moment).
